Maintenance Tips
By routinely cleaning your floor properly, you will maximize its performance, appearance, and slip resistance. If you have a cleaning service, make sure they are instructed properly. The lifetime of your floor will be directly related to how well you clean it.

DUR-A-FLEX, INC. EPOXY FLOORING
MAINTENANCE SUGGESTIONS

Dur-A-Flex, Inc. Epoxy Flooring Systems are a combination of epoxy resins and special aggregates and pigments, applied as a seamless, monolithic surface topping. These systems cure into a glossy non-porous surface that is chemical and abrasion resistant and requires very little maintenance. You can keep it looking "like new" by observing the following suggestions.

METHOD OF CLEANING
Dur-A-Flex, Inc. Epoxy Flooring Systems are used in many environments requiring surface textures of "Standard" (standard skid resistance), "Orange Peel" (moderate skid resistance), and "Smooth" (minimal skid resistance, .05 coefficient of friction). A "Smooth" floor may be slippery when wet, but it is very easy to keep clean using normal floor maintenance methods: sweeping, buffing, mopping, etc. An "Orange Peel" or "Standard" texture floor offers foot-safety but may require some special cleaning procedures depending on what type of soil and/or contaminants.

1. Self-contained mechanical scrubbers are the most efficient and cost effective method.

2. Spray cleaning with hose is very effective in areas that have drains.

3. Deck brush or push broom agitation works well in small areas.

Most contaminants will normally only lay on top of this surface. When dirt, grease and other matter are dropped onto the floor, prompt removal will make cleaning easy and prevent staining by some strong chemicals. Use mild alkaline cleaners that rinse freely.

1. When mopping and scrubbing light soil by hand, use a neutral base cleaner. Change water frequently and rinse mops often. For best results, allow a mild detergent solution to soak on the floor long enough to loosen the dirt before scrubbing with brushes. Residue can be either hosed into drains or picked up with a vacuum followed by a clean water rinse.

2. When cleaning a lightly soiled surface with machine scrubbers, use hot water containing a mild detergent. Change water frequently. Dirty rinse water will leave a haze that may be quite noticeable on a glossy surface.

3. When machine scrubbing a badly soiled surface use a heavy duty alkaline cleaner.
Note: Always follow detergent manufacturer’s instructions.

4. There is generally no need to wax this type of floor but it may be used if desired. A preferred method in obtaining a fresh new look is to use a low solids acrylic wax, which applies easily and does not need to be stripped.
